Help For Haiti

You can help the victims of countless crises, like the recent earthquake in Haiti, around the world each year by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, which will provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need. The American Red Cross honors donor intent.  Or, text "Haiti" to 90999 to make an immediate $10 donation.

"While relief efforts have begun, communications are extremely difficult and accurate information is still scarce," UNICEF Executive Director Ann M. Veneman said in a recent statement. "It is clear that the consequences are severe and many children are among the victims," she added. "Our hearts go out to the families whose lives have been so terribly impacted by this tragedy."

Who benefits?  -- Promotional campaigns, by nature, focus on short-term effects, and benefit short-term buying and selling. In virtually every case, the firm doing the promoting is either (a.) being paid in free-trading shares by the company being promoted (and is highly likely to cash-out when the stock peaks), or (b.) being unknowingly preyed-upon by a promotional entity that has taken a position in the company, and is planning to "pump-and-dump" the company's stock. Either way, those who benefit from such scenarios are the promoters, and the day traders who know how to identify and take advantage of such schemes... more

Recent E-mail "Blasts" --  After receiving numerous emails from an outfit identifying itself as "MosterStox," we did a cursory analysis of the impact of MonsterStox company campaigns, and found clear indications that MosterStox engages in what can easily be seen as "pump-and-dump" scenarios. We never opted-in for MonsterStox mailings. MonsterStox communications are written with multiple syntax, grammatical and punctuation errors -- demonstrating a significant lack of attention to detail. Aside from the obvious "Monster" aspect of the brand name, communications from MonsterStox are laden with hyperbole, such as "soar", "BIG WINNER", "pick", "runner!", and so forth.  We encourage you to read the disclosure/disclaimer statements we've replicated. It is clear that MonsterStox is not making much, if any effort, to actually serve the financial community... more
